About Foundation Menschen für Menschen

In line with the vision of our founder, Karlheinz Böhm, we support the people of Ethiopia in shaping the future of their country through their own efforts. We are committed to a life without hunger and poverty, with fairly distributed opportunities, so that families in need can live a dignified life. Guided by the principle of “help for self-development,” we strengthen and promote the people’s own initiative. We take into account the different living conditions in urban and rural areas and work within a holistic framework. In all our projects, the goal is to eliminate problems sustainably and enable people to live independently from external aid.

With the 2030 Agenda, the United Nations formulated 17 goals for sustainable development. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) serve as a roadmap for the future. The projects of Menschen für Menschen make concrete contributions toward these goals by providing access to clean drinking water, sanitation facilities, and healthcare. In rural areas, we support farmers in practising sustainable agriculture and building value chains. In urban areas, we offer disadvantaged people the opportunity to receive vocational training, improving their chances on the job market. We also promote the quality of education in schools. In this way, people can build and secure their own independent livelihoods.
